Howdy-doo, neighbor! Welcome to the City of Venice. The Venice City Council and I
are glad you took the time to visit our city over the Intrawebs. Our
city is known as the “City on the Gulf” and we are proud of all its
amenities, especially the beaches. Our beaches
are a
100% guaranteed Homer-free zone. Below are some of our unique
features that make Venice an okalee-dokalee
destination for vacationing
visitors and long-time residents.
At
the south end of the island we created a “Paw Park” for dogs and
their owners to enjoy the beach and gulf waters, the only one of its
kind in Sarasota County. Venetian Waterway Park is a 5-mile concrete
trail running along both sides of the Intracoastal Waterway through
the city. It is ideal for walking, jogging,
biking, and fervent prayer. Our fishing
pier with a bait shop, is one of the few on the west coast of
Florida. It provides spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico
for those who just want to be fishers of fish. The
new interactive baptismal fountain, for children of all ages to enjoy and cool
off in is located in Centennial Park, in the middle of our beautiful
Venice MainStreet business and shopping district.
Whether you are a visitor or resident you will find
information on all these things and more from the menus provided on
the homepage. Please bookmark our homepage so you may access the
valuable information including a calendar of meetings, special
events, tent revivals, and information about such things as garbage, recycling, code
enforcement, planning, disaster preparedness and other subjects of
interest. Have an okalee-dokalee Jesus filled
day.
