Vedder compares Levine to bin Laden Got a comment? Make it here.
Why not Hitler? In the meantime, compare what the Gondo published on November 3 with this account from the Herald-Tribune, which was published shortly after Levine's arrest at city hall. Talk about night and day -- it's as if there were two entirely different incidents that were being described. Not content with the slams in the November 3 editorial, Vedder took a nearly unbelievable cheap shot just a few days later. From Vedder's column of November 6:
Since Vedder has never indicated anything but contempt for Levine, the part about Vedder beginning to think kindly about Levine is self-serving bovine excrement:
Vedder's comparison of Levine's legal and political battles with city hall with that of Osama bin Laden's battle with the United States is a nice bit of hate speech. Levine has protested many things and he's not a likely poster child for political diplomacy, but he has always stayed within the law and he has always acted towards the goal of making city hall behave in a more lawful fashion. Osama bin Laden is a cold-blooded mass murderer, one of the the worst in the history of modern civilization, certainly the worst of the 21st century. Somehow, Vedder thought the comparison was appropriate. Why Vedder didn't compare Levine to Hitler while he was at it will remain a mystery. While I couldn't come up with a pic of Vedder, I did find one of another famous Bob of equal credibility: http://www.davidstuff.com/bagdad-bob1.jpg Osama -- hah -- that's a good one. Vedder is such a funny guy. Where does he come up with this hilarious stuff?
Note to Vedder: Just in case you didn't know, it's kind of a bad thing to compare someone who is Jewish, especially someone who claims to be a peaceful political activist, to a mass-murdering terrorist who claims to be Muslim. It's not exactly politically correct.
