Downtown Venice has so many places to see and things to do, it needs a whole story all by itself. All I will say at this point is plan to spend time in the shops, restaurants, historic buildings, parks, galleries, community buildings, theater, etc. Take the trolley to get an overview and then stop along the way for lunch and see the sights. Make sure to check the Community Section of this website for a calendar of events (and if you or your organization are planning an event - let people know in the same way). You will also find information about beaches, dining out, camping, golfing, parks, attractions, libraries and a neat area called history. The final item listed is the Kids Page. Look around and see what you find. If you want to give your visitors a good overview (literally) of our area, local airplane rides are available at the Venice Municipal Airport. For little visitors, just watching all of the planes coming and going is a lot of fun. This used to fascinate my grandchildren. What is nice is that there is a park at the end of Airport Avenue with a childrens playground and a boardwalk with covered tables where you can picnic, watch planes and also go on the beach. It is also a great site to watch sunsets from. If you continue south on Harbor Drive you will pass Sharkeys restaurant and the Venice Fishing Pier. A little further on you will come to Caspersons Beach at the end of the road. Each of Venice beaches has its own flavor and for many people this is one of their favorites. The boardwalk has places to sit and watch the featured attraction of each evening - the sunset. You will find that accessibility for wheelchairs has been a factor in the planning of all the parks of Venice.
The most important thing to do is relax and have fun. Who says youre only young once? What do they know? |
